About Us

OUR VISION

The Home of Re-commerce

At Cobber, we’re passionate about giving all of your used items a second life and reducing waste. We believe beautiful, high-quality items shouldn’t end up in landfills, and everyone deserves a chance to own a unique piece with a story. That’s why we created an online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling pre-loved items like furniture.

More Than Just Furniture

We’re not just selling furniture; we’re promoting sustainability and responsible consumption. By choosing pre-loved furniture, you’re making a positive impact on the environment:

  • Reduced Waste: Every piece we sell is a piece diverted from landfills.
  • Lower Carbon Footprint: Repurposing furniture reduces the need for new production and transportation.
  • Sustainable Style: Second-hand furniture offers a unique aesthetic and timeless charm.
  • We also deliver to ensure everything we provide is accessible

OUR VALUES

COMMUNITY

We’re driven to create peer-to-peer communities where people help each other with mutual support, trust and collaboration.

INCLUSIVITY

Everyone deserves to participate in a supportive community. We aim to replace isolation with connection.

RELIABILITY

What’s a mate if not reliable? People can lean on us to get their transport challenges solved.

SUSTAINABILITY

We believe in empowering people to make sustainable choices. We aim to make it easy to participate in the second-hand, circular economy, while reducing the need for additional vehicles on the road.

ACCESSIBILITY

We’re here to help those with limited access to moving large items. Whether it’s lack of transport, caregiving duties, or physical impairments, everyone should be able to access the second-hand goods they need.

OUR STORY

Cobber was founded by single mum and immigrant Roann Junio Hartmann through the experience of her own adversity. Raising two children in public housing, Roann relied on second-hand goods from online marketplaces like Gumtree and Facebook. As Roann doesn’t drive, she was unable to pick up the items, and she didn’t have family around to help her. While sellers could sometimes deliver items, they often didn’t have a large enough vehicle.

Every time she needed a couch, a fridge, or a bed for her son it was a stressful and extremely frustrating experience. It was disheartening to constantly miss out on things she needed and having no one to help.

Bayanihan – communities of ‘mates’

Roann founded Cobber on the philosophy of Bayanihan, a concept from her native Philippines. This is the spirit of community cooperation – a collective effort of people working towards a common goal.

With Cobber Marketplace, we are creating a way for communities to support each other through re-use and a sustainable drive in home furnishing.

Combined with Cobber, where we are creating a fleet of drivers ready to transport large and bulky second-hand items, so that people will always have a ‘mate’ to count on.
